Under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, the Indian Railways launched India’s first indigenous semi-high-speed train, the Vande Bharat Express. The Vande Bharat Express train was inaugurated on the New Delhi-Kanpur-Allahabad-Varanasi route on February 15, 2019.
The Vande Bharat Express can speed up to 160 kilometres per hour and offers similar travel classes to the Shatabdi Train but with superior amenities. It seeks to provide passengers with an entirely novel travel experience. This train is distinguished by its speed, security, and service.

2. PM On February 15, 2019, Narendra Modi inaugurated the first Vande Bharat Express on the New Delhi-Varanasi route.
The train travels between New Delhi and Varanasi, pausing in Kanpur and Allahabad en route. The train travels 771 kilometres in eight hours.
The New Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat Express train operates daily, except Monday and Thursday. It leaves New Delhi at 6 am, arrives in Varanasi at 2 pm, and departs at 3 pm, returning to New Delhi at 11 pm. The AC Chair Car fare is Rs 1,805, and the Executive Chair Car fare is Rs 3,355.
2. New Delhi – Shri Vaishno Devi Mata Katra Vande Bharat
Interior Minister Amit Shah launched the second semi-high-speed train in India on October 3, 20.The train travels a distance of 655 kilometres in 8 hours between New Delhi and Katra. Included among the destinations are Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana, and Jammu Tawi.
The train operates every day except Tuesday, according to its timetable and ticket prices. The train leaves New Delhi at 6 am, arrives in Katra at 2 pm, and returns to New Delhi at 11 pm. The fare from New Delhi to Shri Vaishno Devi Mata Katra for an AC Chair Car is Rs 1,545, and for an Executive Chair Car, Rs 2,805.
Vande Bharat Express Route: Gandhinagar to Mumbai Inaugurated on September 30, 2022, the Gandhinagar Capital- Mumbai Central Vande Bharat Express train travels 520 kilometres in 6 hours and twenty minutes.

4. New Delhi-Ambassador Andaura in Himachal Pradesh Vande Bharat Express
The Vande Bharat Express between Amb Andaura and New Delhi was inaugurated on October 13, 2022.
New Delhi to Himachal Pradesh is the train’s destination. Before arriving in Una, the train pauses in Ambala, Chandigarh, and Anandpur Sahib.
This train operates six days a week, excluding Fridays, according to its timetable and ticket price. In 5 hours and 25 minutes, the vehicle travels 415 km. The train departs the New Delhi station at 5:50 am and arrives at Amb Anadaura at 11 am. The train then leaves Amb Anadaura at 1 pm and arrives in New Delhi at 6.25 pm. 5. Mysuru – Puratchi Thalaivar Dr MGR Chennai Central Vande Bharat Express Mysuru
– Puratchi Thalaivar Dr MGR On November 11, 2022, the fifth Vande Bharat Express train, the Chennai Central, was inaugurated.
This train from Chennai to Mysuru stops at Katpadi and Bengaluru en route, and it takes 6 hours and 25 minutes to travel the 497 kilometres.
The train operates every day except Wednesday, according to its timetable and fare structure. It leaves Chennai at 5.50 am, arrives at Mysuru Junction at 12.20 pm, and departs Mysuru at 1.05 pm, arriving in Chennai at 7.30 pm. The fare between the two stations is Rs 1,365 for an air-conditioned chair car and Rs 2,448 for an executive chair car.
6. Nagpur –Bilaspur Vande Bharat Express
On December 11, 2022, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Vande Bharat Express that connects Nagpur and Bilaspur.
The train takes 5 hours and 30 minutes to complete the voyage. The train between Nagpur and Bilaspur pauses at Raipur, Durg, and Gondia.

7. Vande Bharat Express Howrah-New Jalpaiguri
December 30, 2022, marked the debut of the Howrah (HWH) – New Jalpaiguri (NJP) Vande Bharat Express train.
The first semi-high-speed train in eastern India completes the trip in 7.5 hours, stopping at Bolpur (Shantiniketan), Malda Town, and Barsoi.
The train operates seven days a week, except Wednesday. The train departs Howrah Junction at 5.55 am and arrives at New Jalpaiguri at 1.25 pm; it then leaves New Jalpaiguri at 3.05 pm and arrives at Howrah Junction at 10.35 pm. AC Chair Car tickets cost Rs 1,565, while Executive Chair Car tickets cost Rs 2,825 each.
8. Secunderabad – Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express
The Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express was inaugurated on January 15, 2023, the country’s eighth semi-high-speed train.
The train travels the 699 kilometres between Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam in 8 hours and 30 minutes. The train will stop at Warangal, Khammam, Vijayawada Junction, Rajahmundry, and Vishakhapatnam along its route.
Timetable, fare, and travel duration: The train operates six days per week, excluding Sundays. It leaves Secunderabad at 3 pm and arrives in Vizag at 11:30 pm, while on the way back, it leaves Vizag at 5.45 am and arrives in Secunderabad at 2.15 pm. The train fare between two stations is 1,665 rupees for an AC chair car and 3,120 rupees for an executive chair car.
9. Mumbai-Solapur Vande Bharat Express
On February 11, 2023, the ninth Vande Bharat Express began its journey. The train will facilitate travel between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Solapur.
In 6 hours and thirty-five minutes, the route traverses 455 kilometres. Throughout its voyage, the train will stop in Dadar, Kalyan, Pune, and Kurduwadi.
Timetable, fare, and travel duration: Except for Wednesdays and Thursdays, the train operates six days a week from CSMT and Solapur. Sainagar Shirdi Vande Bharat Express
The Mumbai CSMT: Sainagar Shirdi Vande Bharat Express is India’s tenth Vande Bharat Express train, traversing the Maharashtra state. The train was launched on February 10 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This semi-high-speed train will cover the approximately 340-kilometre distance in just 5.25 hours via the Mathal Ghat route. The train stops at Dadar, Thane, and Nashik Road en route from Bombay to Shirdi.
Timetable, fare, and travel duration: The train operates every day except Tuesday. It departs Mumbai at 6:20 am and arrives at its destination, Shirdi, at 11:40 am. The train departs Shirdi at 5:25 pm and arrives in Mumbai at 10:50 pm. The price range for tickets is between Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000.
