After much persuasion from M Annadurai, the project director of Chandrayaan 1, Muthayya Vanitha agreed to take on the project director job for Chandrayaan 2. Vanitha’s responsibilities for Chandaryaan 2 include acting as the project’s gatekeeper and providing complete oversight of the development and implementation of all systems. Muthayya, in his role as project director for the Chandrayaan-2 mission, demonstrated exceptional problem-solving and team management skills. She has been in charge of Chandrayaan-2 since its inception. On Saturday, July 22, 2019, the rocket lifted off successfully. However, it failed to land due to some technical issues.
