Mughal Garden Amrit Udyan Ticket Booking 2023, Visiting Date,Ticket Price::The historic Mughal Gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan have been rechristened Amrit Udyan in honour of India’s 75th anniversary of freedom. The garden’s new name, “Amrit Udyan,” reflects the spirit of the year-long festival, Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The previous name was associated with one of India’s longest governing families; the new one marks a break from that.

Gardens designed in the Mughal fashion are known as “Mughal gardens” for obvious reasons. According to legend, Lady Hardinge commissioned British architect Sir Edward Lutyens to create it (the wife of the then Viceroy). Locations tied to India’s colonial past have been the focus of the government’s efforts to change their names. The Rajpath in Delhi, the route of the Republic Day procession that runs between Rashtrapati Bhavan and India Gate, was renamed Kartavya Path last year.

The Mughal Emperors, who controlled much of South Asia, left a legacy of architectural splendor in the form of the stunning gardens known as the Mughal Gardens. During his rule, Mughal Empire founder Babur constructed the first Mughal Garden. Indian President Smt. Droupadi Murmu renamed the Mughal Gardens Amrit Udyan on January 28, 2023. On January 29, 2023. The President herself officially opened President Amrit Udyan. The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) members claim that the name was changed to disassociate themselves from the colonial era and the restrictions it imposed.

India’s Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan, has spoken out against plans to rebrand the Mughal Gardens. When asked about the new name, he stated, “This new name not only shreds yet another emblem of a colonial legacy but also expresses India’s hopes for the Amrit Kaal.” The opposition, however, has labelled the move as petty politics by the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and has urged the government instead to address more pressing concerns like unemployment and increasing costs. They call it a “long overdue move” from the perspective of others.
