How do I set up Overwatch 2’s SMS Protect?
Everyone who wants to play Overwatch 2 will need a Battle.net account linked to a phone number. This new security measure is meant to help stop bad behaviour and make it easier for Blizzard to ban players more effectively.
- Go to the “Account Details” section on the sidebar to add a phone number to your Battle.net account. In the “Phone Number” section of “Account Details,” the third section, you can add your phone number to your account.
- Be aware that Blizzard has said that SMS Protect won’t work with some kinds of phone numbers. Here are what Blizzard says are the limits:
- Messaging apps like iMessage (iOS) or WhatsApp (iOS and Android) are not supported.
- The phone notification service might not work with prepaid plans for cell phones.
- Voice over IP (VoIP) can’t be used with phone notifications, and VoIP numbers that are moved to a local provider can’t use the service either.

When Does Overwatch 1 Shut Down?
When it goes live, Overwatch 2 will take the place of the first Overwatch game. On Monday, October 3, the servers for Overwatch 1 will be shut down. If you’re reading this, the original Overwatch has already been taken down. Here are the exact times of closing:

Do credits from Overwatch 1 carry over to Overwatch 2?

- Blizzard confirmed at the end of June 2022 that all currencies from Overwatch, like Credits, OWL tokens, and competitive points, will indeed carry over to the next game.
