After the disappointment of Beast’s underwhelming performance, Vijay has returned to the big screen with Varisu. Vaashi Paidipally, a well-known filmmaker in Telugu who has previously made films like Maharshi, Munna, Oopiri, Brindavanam, and Yevadu, co-wrote and directed this film. Rashmika Mandanna, star of Pushpa and Geeta Govindam, plays the female protagonist opposite Thalapathy. Alongside the significant actors, Prakash Raj, Khushbu, Prabhu, Samyuktha Shanmughanathan, R. Sarathkumar, and Sangeetha Krish play the supporting parts, whilst Mahesh Babu has a cameo in the movie.

Varisu Box Office Collection Day 1: Budget Of The Film

Vijay’s next film Varisu is created at a colossal expenditure of Rs 200 Crores. It is planned to premiere simultaneously in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu at the cinemas in only three days. After paying the actors and actresses, the budget for this film has ballooned. Costing an estimated Rs 50 crore more than Thalapathy Vijay’s previous release, ‘Beast,’ in 2022, Varisu almost underperformed at the box office.

At 10 a.m. on Tuesday, advance ticketing for Varisu had already brought in a total of 17.25 crores globally, putting it ahead of Thunivu in most markets outside of Tamil Nadu but trailing it there.

By Tuesday morning, 640,000 seats had been sold for Varisu across India, bringing the film’s total advance booking to a whopping 12.25 Crore gross, surpassing Thunivu’s earlier figure of 10.25 Crore.

Approximately 425,000 tickets have been sold from 1550 performances opened so far, with occupancy of 79%, bringing the total gross in Tamil Nadu to ₹8.45 crores as of Tuesday morning. This puts it just ₹30 crores behind Thunivu.

So far, 75 Chennai and Chengelpet area theatres have opened to the public, selling around 180,000 tickets for a gross of 3.35 crore.

Coimbatore has had 60 theatres open with an occupancy rate of 65%, selling 335 shows to date, bringing in a gross of 1.75 crores.

Madurai’s Occupancy is 62%, for a total revenue of 0.92 crores.

Grossing 0.4 crores in Trichy, with 92% occupancy.
