The upcoming Prince film starring Sivakarthikeyan is in its last days of pre-release activity. Sivakarthikeyan has consistently improved with each film, and Prince is no exception. The actor’s popularity in Telugu has grown alongside his in Tamil, thanks to the success of the film Doctor there.

The first day of theatre showings for Prince in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh was hugely successful, earning approximately 1.8 crores. With an estimated 2.1 crores in worldwide ticket sales on its first day, Prince was a smashing success for Sivakarthikeyan and his budding career. In advance sales, Prince has raked in nearly $2.5 billion. On its inaugural day, it made about $1.5 million; about $2.2 million came from the Tamil language alone, and over $27 million came through Telugu. It was released widely in both Tamil and Telugu, and it is now showing in over 600 theatres in the native market (Tn) and over 300 theatres in the two Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana)

The romantic comedy just recently began accepting advance ticket orders, and by Thursday midday, it had already earned 2 Cr from those sales. Upwards of 1.1 million tickets were sold for the event, with over 1 million tickets selling for 1.8Cr+ in Tamil and over 8,000 tickets selling for 16L in Telugu. Half a day in, the first day’s advance bookings are projected to earn Rs 2.5-3 Crs.

Prince Budget and Business

Telugu media has said that Prince costs around 55 crores to produce. The Tamil and Telugu theatrical rights were sold for 40 crores (30 Crs in Tamil and 10 Crs in Telugu).

To be considered a success, it will need to recoup more than 31 crores shares from Tamil Nadu and roughly 11 crores distributor shares from the Telugu states. Non-theatrical rights, such as digital, satellite, and audio, have already brought in 45 crores.
