Lucknow IPL Team Owners

This is not the RP Sanjiv Goenka group’s first foray into IPL franchise ownership or even the team’s name. They had gained a franchise in Pune for the IPL 2016 and 2017 seasons when two new franchises replaced the suspended Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. They originally called their team the Rising Pune Super Giants but changed the name to Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017.

The Lucknow Super Giants recently signed Australian allrounder Marcus Stoinis and uncapped Indian leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi. While Stoinis will be paid INR 9.2 crore (about USD 1.24 million), according to IPL regulations, a sum of 10 crores would be deducted from the franchise’s overall auction budget. Meanwhile, Bishnoi will be paid INR 4 crore (about USD 0.54 million), the IPL’s standard pay for uncapped Indian players. As a result, the franchise will have a purse of INR 59 crore during the two-day auction, which is set for February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru.
