Gujarat Assembly Election 2022

The electoral commission claimed that for a better voting experience, 1274 polling locations would be handled by women and security officials. There are 182 voting places, and a PWD voter is always welcome at any of them. The youngest eligible voters will staff all 33 polling locations. For the next Assembly elections, the Election Commission has also stated that a particular observer for women, the elderly, and people with disabilities will be stationed in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat.

What was the Election Commission not announcing the dates of the polls sooner?

The electoral commission did not release the dates for the upcoming elections in Gujarat together with those for Himachal Pradesh last month since doing so would have broken with tradition established in 2017. Although Himachal Pradesh’s single round of voting will take place on November 12, the results will be counted on December 8. By delaying counting votes in Himachal Pradesh until nearly a month after the election, the commission effectively signalled that ballots in Gujarat would also be counted on December 8.
