The Chief Minister of Karnataka, Basavaraj Bommai, has issued an order mandating the direct hiring of athletes for state positions. It will be the Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Sports, as stated by CM Bommai, who will be in charge of the selection committee. Winners of the Olympics and Paralympics with degrees would be offered Group-A employment, as the Chief Minister of Karnataka promised.
Chief Minister Bommai announced on Tuesday that medalists from the Asian Games, the Commonwealth Games, and college graduates would be given Group-B jobs. In contrast, medalists from other sports competitions were given Group-C and Group-D jobs at a ceremony where Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot presented the Ekalavya Sports Awards and other sports awards.

The Chief Minister of Karnataka has stated that no other state has a policy of providing employment opportunities to athletes. The government has adopted 75 athletes since August 15 this year and will be training them for the Paris Olympics. The Chief Minister has promised that they will be prepared for four years by qualified coaches and provided access to educational resources.
He added that the government has already spent 10 lakh on each athlete and that extra money will be provided if necessary. Good showings at major competitions like the Olympics, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games are expected of these athletes.
“Young athletes are a country’s greatest asset, and if they work diligently and honestly, they will undoubtedly achieve great things for their nation. The federal government and individual states have both made it a priority ” Bommai said.
